Welcome

Any success I have enjoyed has been the direct result of your willingness to trust me. I have tried to repay you by developing a practice which is about you, the client, not about me, the lawyer. It may sound odd in the age of fifteen minutes of fame, but public recognition means little compared with the sense of accomplishment that comes from helping another human being through a difficult time. You have allowed me to experience that sense of accomplishment many times over. You have made the practice of law such a joy for me that I cannot imagine any work I would rather do. Thank you.

Thank you, also, who have shown your confidence by referring your friends, families and co-workers to my office for their legal needs. People who refer others tend to be individuals of the highest caliber. This is not surprising, since good people tend to speak well of others when a legitimate opportunity to do so presents itself, and experience has confirmed my late mother's advice to avoid those who speak ill of others. And so, it has been my pleasure to return the favor quite often, referring my clients to people in other fields. I would be remiss if I did not also say those words to you who think highly enough of me to recommend my services to others. Thank you.

Finally, there is someone I have thanked and wish I could thank again, face to face. When I was in law school, I got a job with N. Turek & Sons Supply Company here in Chicago. I did not know an invoice from a statement or a bill of lading from a purchase order, but the late Al Turek took a chance on me. It was a three year education from the ground up, and not just in the mechanics of business. He taught important lessons that just cannot be learned from books. For example, one Monday morning, we got word that the owner of the outside payroll service had disappeared, along with the money to cover our last pay checks. By the next morning, Mr. Turek had replaced our checks, paying the same money twice so that his forty-two employees could get paid once.  He could legally have waited a month or more to make good, but his integrity and decency instantly transformed resentment into respect.
